Marki Implodes Hamilton 1995

D'oh!  At the time I was rated around 950 which doesn't even qualify as a bright beginner.  I was playing Marki who was rated 1454 so I didn't stand a chance.  I was surprised at his opening choice:  f4.  Bird's opening.  I had just read about a trap in this opening and since I was pretty sure of a loss I decided to go for it.  Not something I would ever do now.  This trap is totally non-playable.  It's not even a trap it's so bad.  But Marki fell for it hook, line and sinker and I made up quite a few rating points that day.  Right at move 4 when he played pawn takes queen he even said "Oh you forgot about your queen eh?"  Then I mated him.  People started gathering around because the match hadn't lasted 2 minutes and the t/c was 30 moves in 90 lol!  I remember one guy remarked that he had seen it in books but never played in a match!  Marki didn't show up to the club for awhile after that and when he did he was stark raving mad.  He was going on about princess mermaids and Indian treasures.  Swear!  I broke his brain.   My cheapest and most famous win.  Don't know how to read algebraic chess notation?  Click here.
