March 2003

3/26/03.  Got it.  Playing it.  Loving it.

Epa.  I went to EB today to pick up Zelda.  When I got there--around store opening--there wasn't a line and the product wasn't shelved but there were boxes stacked on the floor labelled 'Zelda:  The Wind Waker' and 'Do not shelve before street date.'  Anyway, there was a woman there and it was obvious what we both wanted.  So obvious that the cashier just looked at us and said 'It's not out today.'  I was crushed.  I wasn't about to leave.  I asked 'What do you mean it's not out today?  I don't understand.'  She said 'It's just not out today.'  The woman who was also looking for Zelda and I exchanged glances.  The woman said 'But I was told it was out today.  Since when did the street date change?'  The cashier said 'That date up there has been up for awhile, actually.'  Ah ha!  I had her!  I knew the date was posted up on the New Releases board and checked the date.  March 26.  I piped up:  'But today is the 26th!'  As I was saying that I checked the date on my watch.  Of course, today isn't the 26th although I had been sure it was.  I was so embarrassed I just said 'Sorry, that was my fault' and bolted but not quickly enough to miss that evil cashier laughing at me.  Jerks.

Today the Liberal parliament of Canada voted down, to a member, a resolution tabled by the Opposition supporting the United States in Iraq.  I'm not surprised.  After all, Jean Cretin, slammed Ralph Klein for writing US Ambassador Paul Celucci expressing his support for the United States.  Yet when members of his caucus insult the President or the United States in general, he says nothing.  Jean, Jean, Jean.  Anyway, I'm ashamed to be a Canadian today and I'm hoping any of the above countries will adopt me.  God bless the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States.  I'm behind you one hundred percent.

3/25/03.  Those liberal swine at the CBC are reportedly pulling Cherry into the office today to reprimand him for what he said on Coach's Corner.  Tell those liberal swine to STFU and leave Cherry alone.

The kid I sponsor from Bangladesh sent me a cool Christmas card.  Yeah, it takes awhile for mail to get back and forth.

Col. Hackworth, who's been doing some commentary for CNN lately, is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  He's a tough-as-nails Marine who's seen battle on twelve battlefields and in eight different wars.  He's predicting that tomorrow will see the beginning of the real 'shock and awe.'  He's talking devastation like no one's ever seen before.  This is what he had to say:  "I almost feel sorry for those Iraqi Sons of Bitches.  But I don't.  If I were in the Republican Guard, I'd take my shovel and start digging a hole to China!"  Love it.

3/24/03.  Canada should really be ashamed now.  Uganda has come forward in favor of the war and pledges to provide any support we may need.  Best line from the article:  "It was not clear what support Uganda, a poor East African nation, could offer the US-led coalition."  Maybe they're going to send Kamala over.

Why are Canadians still protesting the war in Iraq?  Or what are they protesting?  As far as I knew, we're not in the war.  Not only are we not in it, our government refused to even support the American action.  So if the Canadian protestors aren't trying to get Canada out of the war then what is their purpose?  I know they can't be protesting the decision of the Americans to attack to Iraq.  If they were, it would be the height of hypocrisy.  One of the arguments of Jean Cretin when he decided not to back the US and England was that Canada is a sovereign nation who has the ability to make an independent decision.  He suggested we 'agree to disagree.'  If that is indeed the case, WHY ISN'T AMERICA AFFORDED THE SAME RIGHT?  Are they not a sovereign nation?  If they decided to launch a pre-emptive attack what business is it of ours?    Asshats.  Each and every one.

3/23/03.  Once again, we're locked into mediocrity because of our political system.  If this were a Republic, Don Cherry could run for President and he'd win.  Listen to his DEAD ON views on Iraq, America, and Canada's lack of support.  What he says here should be made our new National Anthem.  Don Cherry is a scholar, a gentleman, and a KING AMONG MEN!  (Here's a link to the page too.)

I just saw this on a war protestor's sign:  "Learn from the lessons of WWII:  Say no to wars of US aggression!"  To which I say:  WTF?

To those who claim that this war will radicalize a whole new generation of Muslims I say this.  One, we can't be blackmailed under the threat of violence to do nothing.  Two, radical Muslims already hate us and have attacked us before we invaded Iraq.  Three, in fact just the opposite may occur.  Once democracy is installed in Iraq, there may be a domino effect.  Neighbouring nations may finally have the courage to revolt.  Iran is on the edge now.  Isn't this a perfect time to finally overthrow the government there?  Once other nations in the region see how good Iraq has it, they'll start saying "Hey!  We want some of that too!"

Oh, no!  The Baath Party Headquarters where people are routinely tortured was destroyed today by a US missile!  This is what is bringing Canadian war protestors to tears?!

If the States bought only six B2 bombers and nothing else, they'd have already spent the entire defence budget of Canada for an entire year!

Once this war is over, the US will have done in 10 days what the UN couldn't do in 12 years.

This war is definitely one for the history books.  I can't think of a precedent.  A war where the main strategy of the dominant power is to simply frighten their enemy into surrendering.  It's great.  Not only is the States being extra careful not to strike civilian targets but they're even demonstrating their disinterest in fighting Iraqi soldiers!  While they could easily flatten the whole of Iraq with air power alone, they're choosing to strike only government buildings in an attempt to 'shock and awe' the Iraqi army into capitulation.  I mean they're not even hitting traditional military targets like bridges, dams, or factories.  The US is not interested in weakening the nation.  They only want Saddam.  They don't even want the Iraqi soldier!  It's really quite extraordinary.  Listen to Rumsfeld speak and you can see what he's trying to do.  He talks about 'cataclysm', 'shock', 'awe', 'things you've never seen before', 'like nothing that has ever been done before.'  It's obvious that the Pentagon would rather have the Republican Guard raise the white flag than have to bomb them.

I find it ironic that France has actually done more, with its threatened use of its veto, to dismantle multilateralism than any other country on Earth.

The ego of the Canadian people!  We decide not to participate in the liberation of Iraq but go on to assume that we will be involved in the eventual rebuilding!  I love it!  Who do we think we are?  We're actually debating this in the House!  "What will we do when it's time to re-build?"  Why would the States invite us to the party after we've already thrown their invitation right back in their faces?  The US is more likely to respond:  "Huh?  We don't need you.  We'll rebuild Iraq in our image.  Not yours.  Hey, if we knew you were interested it would have been different.  Sorry."  If we had just done what Japan had done--thrown our support in but only committed to reconstruction and not military support (which frankly, we're unable to provide anyway)--we'd be sitting pretty.  As it stands, this war will be over in a week or two, Saddam's WoMD will be found, Iraqi political prisoners released from their torture cells, and Iraqis will be dancing in the streets all while casting a withering glance at Canada:  "Where were you?"  Once again, Peacemaking trumps Peacekeeping.  Jean Cretin can go to He-double hockey sticks.  At any rate, Canada, France, and the UN will still be arguing over what to do in a postwar Iraq even after the US has already set them up with a legal system, a new economic system, a constitution,  and free elections!

Something to ponder:  It's obvious by now that this war will be over in a few days.  Today an 8,000 man Iraqi division surrendered.  Anyway, once the war is over and CNN broadcasts show nothing but jubilant Iraqis waving Old Glory in the streets of Baghdad what will the anti-war movement say then?  I know what I'm going to say.   I'm going to spew the world's LOUDEST 'I TOLD YOU SO!'  HEED THESE WORDS!

Iraqis welcome US troops with open arms.

3/21/03.  You wanted it.  You got it!  The MOAB:  The Mother of All Blogs!

Today at one o'clock the 'Shock and Awe' phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom began--also being referred to as 'A-Day.'.  And what the Pentagon promises, the Pentagon delivers!  I can't decide whether I'm more shocked or awed!  Saddam, if he's even alive, must have been shocked and awed when he saw those GBU-27 Penetrator class Bunker Busters, Hellfires, E-bombs, and Tomahawk Block IIIs rain down on his little parade.  At the very least, he's got a Hell of a headache.  The Tomahawks, guided using Terrain Contour matching, Digital Scene matching, and GPS technology, cost one million bucks apiece and six hundred were launched today.  That's gotta hurt!   Some missiles were launched from B2 Spirits.  Price tag: $2 billion with a 'b' each!   But that's not going to dent the US's military budget at $322 billion a year!  At that amount the States' spends more than the next eleven countries combined.  China only spends $45 billion!  Soon, the US will be spending more than the entire rest of the world combined!  Did I mention that the Iraqi Minister of Something-or-other is extremely upset that the 'Peace Palace' was destroyed?  Oh, and the 'Palace of Flowers.'  What is this?  The Mushroom Kingdom?

At any rate it warmed my heart today to see footage of liberated Iraqis helping the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force tear down posters of Saddam.  Meanwhile, North American protestors give the finger to the poor people of Iraq and tell them they should be happy to live under Saddam's.  No matter how you feel about the war--but if you're against it you're an idiot--you have to admit the Pentagon is doing an incredible job containing the bombing to military targets.  This new generation of bombs can target individual rooms within buildings.  All of today's strike was limited to a small western portion of Baghdad that only contains government buildings.  There are no civilian residences there.  Now I understand why Rumsfeld told the Iraqis to stay in their homes and not to leave the country.  He knew they wouldn't have to.  Anyway, as the Wave of Steel approaches Baghdad I know I'll be glued to my screen.

The best part of this whole thing is wondering what Al Qaeda thinks of all this.  I mean they really awoke a sleeping giant.  None of this would have happened if the WTC was still standing.  When you think that one of Osama's grievances was that the US wouldn't leave the Middle East you see how funny this situation really is.  First Al Qaeda has been mangled to almost nothing by captures and killings and now the US has a quarter million troops in Iraq who'll be staying for a long while.  BWHAHAHAHAHAH!  I love it!  Better to let sleeping dogs lie eh Osama?

I just wanted to say that it absolutely SICKENS me that our Mother, England, and our Brother, The USA, is over in the Gulf while we, Canada, sit around and feel our asses grow.  People protest for peace in Iraq but how does leaving Saddam Hussein, a man who has killed and tortured 2,000,000 of his own people promote peace and justice?  Iraqi-Americans are overjoyed that Saddam is finally being removed.   Why don't these protestors try talking to the actual people who have lived in Iraq under Hussein.  Asshats.  Please let the next regime change occur here in Canada.  Please!  Better yet, I hope in 2005, when the Patriot Act is implemented in full, Canada doesn't get an exemption from the US entry requirements wherein everyone will have to register before entering.  Our economy will grind to a halt.  I'd laugh so hard.  Why doesn't the States just build a fifty foot wall along our border.  I'll help!  Just so I can see the looks on Canadians faces when they realize "We're f*cked."

The US can't lose.  Optimus Prime is on their side!

Saddam predicting that Iraq--who has been left weaponless and weak as a kitten because we know he followed every UN resolution to a 'T'--will be victorious!   I can't wait to see this!  Winning a war with nothing but the sticks and stones that the UN allowed him!

3/20/03.  What?  Saddam lied about having al Samouds?  What?  Saddam launched them at Kuwait?  I'm SHOCKED!

3/19/03.  Vice Adm. Timothy J. Keating addressed crew members of the aircraft carrier USS Constellation: "When the president says go -- look out, it's hammer time."   Well, the President has said 'Go'.  Best of all, the first strike consisted of a dozen Cruise missiles aimed right at Saddam's backside.  Hussein may already be nothing more than a charred corpse.  Wouldn't it be hilarious if he was dead and the war was already over?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to PersonalityMalfunction.net.  Doc M. has put hist site on indefinite but hopefully temporary hiatus.  Doc helped me get this site up by answering my questions about how domains and web hosts worked.  Thanks for your help Doc and if you ever want to post something you can post it right here.  After all this isn't goodbye to Doc M.

The Pentagon:  We're ready.

Saddam's soldiers are so frightened they started surrendering nine days ago to British paratroopers on a training exercise.  The saddest part?  The Brits had to send them back to Iraq because the war hasn't started yet.

Jean Cretin's buddy, Saddam Hussein, likes to shred people for fun!  And don't forget this 'propaganda' from Amnesty International!  An oldie, but a goodie!

ROFLMAO!!!!  YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS ANTI-WAR PROTESTOR TRIP UP!  The MP3. No joke!  (Click the link to hear it or right-click and 'Save Target As' to download it.  It's around two and half megs.)  This is the FUNNIEST THING you've heard in a long time!!   Thanks to Cubicle-Slave for the link.

Just something I whipped up.

FLASH!  The UK House of Commons has voted overwhelmingly for the use of force to oust Hussein!

3/18/03.  I've been hearing that we should get ready for a terrorist counterattack if the US begins the liberation of Iraq.  Some even say it could even be with chemical, biological, or radiological weapons.  As you know, the Homeland Security Threat Assessment has been upgraded to 'High.'   I'll be the first to agree that there is a good chance that the West will be struck with a terror attack sometime after the US invades.  But that is exactly the reason that the US is going to invade Iraq in the first place.  Because Iraq supports terrorism and will be happy to use NBC weapons against us anywhere in the world.  Unless the liberal media means that Al-Qaeda will attack us.  But I thought there was no connection between Al-Qaeda and Iraq so why should Osama care if the US attacks Saddam?  From Bush's address:

"If Saddam Hussein attempts to cling to power, he will remain a deadly foe until the end. In desperation, he and terrorists groups might try to conduct terrorist operations against the American people and our friends. These attacks are not inevitable. They are, however, possible. And this very fact underscores the reason we cannot live under the threat of blackmail. The terrorist threat to America and the world will be diminished the moment that Saddam Hussein is disarmed."

I just wish these bleeding hearts could make up their minds.  Best line from Bush's speech?  "The day of your liberation is near."

Here's what the President said tonight.

3/17/03.  Today is St. Patrick's Day.  A day devoted to a mighty man that would kick all your butts if he knew what you've done to his feast day.  Why don't you atheists find your own holidays?  Jerks.  St. Patrick, for those of you who don't know, is the Patron of Ireland and Nigeria.  He's invoked against snakes.  Anyway, he wasn't Irish at all but Welsh-Italian.  His name wasn't even Patrick.  It was Succat.  And all you secular jerkwads have corrupted yet another Catholic holiday.  Bah.

3/16/03.  Been awhile since any real update.  What's new?  Lessee.  Well, I gave up swearing for Lent and it's actually been easier than I thought it would have been.  Stars and I started dual swear jars.  We each add a buck to our individual jar when we swear.  On Easter the person with the lesser amount in their jar wins both jars.  I'm at around eleven bucks while Stars is around five bones.  Ah well.

I installed a new thirty gig HD today for a total of ninety gigs.  I imaged my master drive onto the slave.  Good times.  Good times.  (sidebar.  Today on Fark I posted a comment saying I had a 'Westgate' HD.  Just one of those brain short circuits.  lol.  Ah well.  I'm sure I got flamed for that.  Too bad I never read the threads after I've posted.)

Stars and I went to a cat show today.  It ruled.  But now we want a Bengal, a Scottish Fold, a British Shorthair, an Exotic Shorthair, a Persian, and a Maine Coon.  They even had a fun 'Housecat' category.  Too bad Calvin didn't want to participate.  Ah well.

covercoverMy birthday was last Monday and I got some sweet stuff.  Freeze gave me a hilarious Yukon Cornelius action figure and a wicked Ball Runner   which is a motorized chipmunk in a ball.  Calvin loves it.  I'd snap a pic but I don't have a battery for my cam.  I also gave up buying anything except food and school stuff for Lent.  Remember?  So no GBA:SP or PN03 for me until after Easter.  Fortunately, when I pre-booked Zelda I opted to pay the full amount instead of just a twenty dollar deposit.  So I paid for it long before Lent.  Stars is playing Animal Crossing right now and there's a thunder and lightening storm.  Never saw that before.  Cool.  But back to my b-day.  Stars got me Jackass Season's 2 and 3 and sister got me The Osbournes First Season.  All on sweet, sweet DVD.  First we watched Jackass straight thru and then, the next night, we watched The Osbournes.  We had so much fun.  Especially the Osbournes.  Can't wait for Jackass:  The Movie.  Comes out this month.  Stars is going to snap it up as soon as it comes out.  It was easily my favorite movie of last year.  I never laughed so hard in my life!

School is winding down but it's harder than ever.  It's actually a bit discouraging.  Not having as much fun as before.  It'll all be over soon tho' I guess.

3/14/03.  Epa.  No, I'm not dead.  Just playing Medal of Honor.  In the meantime, why not check out these great sites:

Tournament of Stuff | Fatman Games | HecticPlanet

3/8/03.   The army massing outside Iraq is using thousands of Panasonic Toughbooks but only one Mac.  The Powerbook had to be specially requisitioned.  The officer who needed it said:  "Frankly, lives are in the balance here, so the quicker I can get stuff done accurately, the better," Weed said. "The Mac makes this work simple, quick and efficient. The other laptops either can't open the files or lock up halfway through, losing whatever I was working on at the time, and then (I have) to restart the computer and start over.".

3/3/03.  Saw this on b-a.com.  Thanks Freeze.
