February 2003
2/24/03. Here's my new favorite page! Its all about TVO shows from the 1970s. I remember waiting for a snow day so I could sit at home and watch them all: Parlez-Moi, All About You, Fables of the Green Forest, Jeremy. This guy has put together a great page on all of them and is looking for new information too! Check it out!
Oi yoi yoi! I guess I had better make a formal announcement. I've got the line up for my wedding: Board 1-Black, Freezingwarm; Board 2-White, Tao; Board 3-Black, Aristotle. The three best bones. Who else could I choose other than the St. Mary's City Champs? Don't forget Burns will be there too. You also win a free meal the night before and some other junk too. Details to follow but the wedding is June 21, 2003 at St. Joseph's and the rehearsal dinner is June 20th. And yeah, you'll have to dress up but I'll be picking up the tab for your tuxes. That way I can also be sure you don't show up like in Dumb and Dumber with a powder blue ruffled shirt or something. lol. Holla if you hear me.
2/21/03. I just finished watching Fubar and after seeing it I'll find it difficult in the future to dismiss CanCon so easily. OK, not really but his is the first Canadian movie I've seen that I'm not ashamed of and, furthermore, the first Canadian movie I've seen that I'm prepared to say I LOVE! I know I'm late to the party but I figured that by blogging about Fubar I could inform others that missed out on this when it first came out too. Anyway, it's the story of two Canadian 'headbangers' (I'm putting that in quotes because I probably would have called them skids but whatever) whose motto is 'More beers, more cheers.' Terry and Dean will work their way straight into your heart. Sister brought it over and we watched it with Stars and the only time I laughed as hard at a movie was when we saw Jackass. Check out this movie NOW! Give 'er!
2/19/03. YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO! Watch what happens when a bunch of people protesting war in Iraq are interviewed and shown as the dumbasses they are! You have to check this out! It's hilarious!
On a side note, that crybaby Wil Wheaton is threatening all those who post comments regarding that Iraq thread in his blog with legal action. So stay away from there.
You gotta love Rumsfeld: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld outlined three scenarios that could avert war with Iraq: Saddam Hussein leaves voluntarily and is replaced by leadership that follows international law; Saddam leaves involuntarily; or Saddam adheres to U.N. resolutions. Which one is most likely? "Only time will tell," Rumsfeld said. (from cnn.com)

I wish this year was over. Because that would mean that I have Killer 7, PN03, and Viewtiful Joe in my Gamecube collection. Check out the trailer for PN03. I can't wait for this title. Capcom has really raised the bar for future GC releases with this.
2/18/03. From Fark: Saddam appreciates the efforts of his buddies in the free world who protest his removal.
2/17/03. Wil Wheaton of wilwheaton.net says he's for free speech and against Internet censorship. Yet when people started posting views contrary to his regarding a possible war in Iraq he took all his toys and went home by deleting every post! What a crybaby! Well, I'm adding a forum here where you can either continue the conversation that was begun there or you can post comments about what you think about Wheaton's hypocrisy.
2/15/03. A little late, but has anyone checked out the new simulation showing the creation of the Universe? NASA, of course, put it together using information gathered from their WMAP probe. Watch the video. [5MB Quicktime]. Notice how the Universe just 'turns on' at one point. LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Japan says it will attack North Korea if Kim Il-Jong so much as fills a missile with fuel! Tell me this isn't the start of World War III. Bring it on I say. Then again, I bet Japan is just after North Korea's oil. lol.
2/13/03. Wow! Remember Frenchie from American Idol? She just kind of disappeared right? Well, she got kicked off the show because four years ago she posed for a pornographic website! Of course, her supporters want her back on the air. Pretty crazy.
2/12/03. Okay. We all
know that the FBI is offering a $25 million reward for
Osama. Dead or
alive. Why hasn't anyone stepped forward? There are two reasons.
One being that those who have access to Osama, and thus the ability to kill or
capture him, are themselves at risk of being killed or captured by Osama's
supporters. Secondly, if they were able to pull it off, these people are
probably quite reluctant to speak to the FBI in order to claim their prize.
And rightly so. Quite a pickle. Thankfully, I have a solution to the
second problem; I can't help with the first one except to suggest wear a
disguise or something. Anyway, chessthecat.com is proud to offer $25 million US
for Osama. You heard right. You get me Osama and I'll pay you $25 million. I'll collect the cash from the FBI
on your behalf. This way you get your money but the FBI will never know who
you are. I promise to keep you entirely anonymous. The FBI gets Osama and Chess has done his good deed for the day.
Happy hunting! Once you have our friend, Osama e-mail me at
ihaveosama@chessthecat.com
I'm sure glad that there isn't a connection between Iraq and
Al Qaeda.
Oh there is? What? France is wrong again? That's
unpossible! Oh and speaking of France, which lately has just dumbfounded
me with their idiocy and arrogance, I just wanted to know if you could add some
perspective on this:

This is an American graveyard in Normandy, France. They did it for you France. Even your name sucks. I think I will re-christen you 'Europe's Bitch.' and Paris will now be known as 'Surrender Ville'. Bite me. At any rate, Saddam will soon be gone and the Iraqis can finally listen to Britney Spears without fear of having their hands cut off. Then again, they have it so good now, maybe we shouldn't disturb them. I mean living in Iraq under Saddam Hussein must rule. Why can't the world just let them live in filth and under an oppressive government?
Is it just me or is everything Apple designs as sexy as hell? The boys at /. are lovin' 'em too so you know they have to be good.
2/10/03. New reviews are up
at
Squeaky
Clean.
2/8/03. Kasparov vs. Deep
Junior
ended 3-3. I don't know what that means really. I'm kind of
disappointed but at least Deep Junior didn't win.
Well, Stars and I have decided on a
honeymoon destination. We booked Windswept House in Cape Breton.
Ocean, wind, rocks. Like Scotland but cheaper.
I finally found a remotely-hosted weblog commenting system that's still accepting new sign-ups. It's a bit slow I find due to heavy server load on their end. But it works. Now you can leave feedback right here in my blog. Later.
What's up with North Korea lately? I mean these guys came
out of nowhere. Now they're
threatening the US with a first strike. The funny part is that despite
that idiot midget Il Jong Kim thinks his people
seem to want more freedom, not less. Imagine. What is the UN's
position?
Let's send them more aid. Of course. (As an aside, the US should
pull out of the UN completely. They're really a hindrance more than
anything; especially in this war on terror which should be renamed the 'War on
Idiots'. When France can veto you, you know there's a problem.)
Anyway, once again, thank you Communism. Wow, you're so awesome. I
don't know why you aren't more popular. Jackasses.
UPDATE:
Bush just came up with a new name: the War on Oppressive Regimes.
That's what I'm talking about.
FURTHER UPDATE-- BWHWHAHAHAHA! North Korean spy busted in the US. He sent
nothing but
newspaper articles back to his superiors for over eight years! That's
a talented spy! I guess the North Koreans don't know that the US has a
free press and that they don't publish state secrets in the newspaper.
Either that, or this guy is one wicked conman. I'm not as worried now.
I wonder what Long Jongs thought when he heard that 'Friends' was renewed for
another season! lol.
2/6/03. The only party I'll ever vote for. I think Ken Wallace and I were separated at birth. Check out his dead on views regarding the constitution.
So...Star Trek: Nemesis. What happened? $18.5 million total at the box office. I think releasing it a week before LOTR: TTT was a mistake.
2/5/03. Iraq is cooked. Powell is going to present the mother of all Powerpoints to the UN today. He's got wiretapped phone conversations of Iraqi leaders coaching scientists on how to answer UN weapons inspectors. He's got satellite imagery of Iraqi soldiers burying equipment. He's got tapes of Iraqi scientists talking about where to hide illegal materials. He's got records of purchase showing Iraqi has bought contraband material. Best of all, he's got evidence linking Saddam to Osama. Iraq has the bomb and is happy to use it or sell it to the highest bidder. All I have to say to everyone is: I told you so. What would you do if you were President? Not that easy is it?

2/4/03. This is the winner of the
Pentagon's
Joint Strike Fighter Competition. It's the F-35 built by the good people
at
Lockheed-Martin. I just watched an amazing documentary on the JSF Comp
on PBS. This plane has a radar signature that is smaller
than that of a bird, it can land and take-off vertically, it replaces the F-16,
the F-18, and the Harrier Jump-jet. It will be the most widely deployed
fighter ever built. It's nothing short of amazing. One of the more
interesting aspects of the design process was the development of the software
that makes a plane like this possible. The software is responsible for
everything from the AC, to the landing gear, to the weapons system. The
weapons system alone has to choose targets, assign priority, select weapons,
launch them and do it all in any type of weather, day or night. What I'm
getting at is this: the code was built from scratch in under five years
and contains millions of lines. There can't be any load times or
slowdowns; the code has to be quick and it certainly can't ever crash.
It has to have an uptime of 100% and work well. A man's life is at stake.
The point? If these engineers can do that, why can't Microsoft make an OS
that can copy a fucking folder without crashing? Or a database that isn't
so full of holes it resembles Swiss cheese? Or an IM program that doesn't
allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry into your system? Or a game console that
doesn't lock-up? I mean, Lockheed-Martin isn't even a software company.
They build planes for crying out loud.
WHOA!! Can this really be the new Nintendo scheduled for 2005??
Check it out! It's got 2 USB ports and a GBA port!! And it looks
like all the controllers are wireless! I'll take two!!
This is floating around the 'Net. Apparently, it's unaltered. Guess someone was typing a little too fast over at CNN.

As far as I can figure, that's about Warp 2.6. Wow.
2/3/03. A bunch of new site reviews are up at Squeaky Clean.
2/1/03.
When the Challenger exploded 17 years ago I didn't think I'd live to see it
happen all over again. Once more, America has sent up the best of the best
into orbit only to lose them all. I know though that America won't stop
trying; pushing the limits of science and physics, trying to get off this rock,
trying to build a better tomorrow. Why? Because who will if not
them? The British? The French? It's the Americans spending the
money, training the people, building the ships, taking the chance, and trying to
better us all. And yet, already the haters are out there; the Middle
East is purportedly pretty happy about the whole thing. Well, they can all
bite me thanks. If you really want to know how great America is check out
the crew:

An Indian woman, a black man, a Jewish man. That's America baby. You gotta love it. If they aren't heroes, the word has no meaning. Remember that every time they climb aboard that shuttle they know there's a chance they won't come back. Yet they go to perform a bunch of science experiments. It's not like they're getting paid millions to do this. They do it for us. Here's to the greatest nation on God's green earth, and to the crew that gave it all for her. USA! USA! USA!
Best line in a movie: "They're so stupid. That's why they're idiots." -- Pepito. (Madeline)
