August 2002

8/31/02.  We're back and I wish I wasn't.  Coming soon:  NYC pics, movies, American candy I have eaten, etc. etc. etc.

8/25/02.  Hey everyone, this will be my last post for a few days.  I'm going to the Big Apple.  Gotham.  The City that Never Sleeps.  The Naked City.  Crossroads of the World.  Manhattan.  Capital of the World.  Metropolis.  The city so nice they named it twice.  New York Fuckin' City!  This'll be my sixth time.  No matter what happens, New York will always be the greatest city on earth.  The people, the noise, the traffic, the hustle and bustle, the shopping, the lights, Broadway, Wall Street, the Park, Times Square, the Village, Upper West Side, St. John the Divine, Battery Park, Harlem, Brooklyn Bridge, Tin Pan Alley (not much left really but...), Empire State.  It's New York!  Oh, and the food.  My, my.  You haven't lived until you've been to New York.  If you haven't been, go!  I'll always love you New York!  When I get back there'll be tons of pics and assorted bric-a-brac to show off I'm sure.  So watch for that.  In the meantime click here to see a postcard I picked up in Times Square for 10 cents.  And please sign my guestbook or better yet, my guestmap.  Vote in my polls.  Plug your site on my tag-board.  If I can get near the computers in the Times Square Visitor centre, I'll leave a tag too.  Bye.  Thanks...for...dropping...by.  If you need somewhere to go, why not hang out here for awhile till I get back?  It's a great site with a slick layout.   It's totally bookmark worthy.  Just remember who's waiting for you at home.

8/24/02.  I've eaten some more things from Japan.  Hey!  And please post on my new Guestmap!  Check the nav buttons to the left!  Also I added a cool random quote generator.  It's at the top of this page.  Nifty!

/23/02.  Today is the 2 month anniversary of chessthecat.com.  That is all.

New fun.  New rant.  New poll.    Meh.

8/21/02.  Here's a pic for you Tao Jones fans.  Or you can check these out.  Should Tao legally change his name to Tao Jones?  Vote!

8/21/02.  Lots of new stuff happening.  New sections:   Polls.  As I mentioned, Bill Bitterman is here and he's got some stuff to say.  Hmm.  What else?  Shampooplanet.com is now up and complete.  It's one measly pic from Tao.  What a lazy bird.  I think Gunny Bill will have something to say about that later.  Anyway it's a nice pic I guess.  Lemme know what you think.

8/20/02.  Hola!  Hey bombz-away has all kinds of new content and a new writer!  Be sure to check this out too!  It's a must!  And thanks for all your votes at the Spark Top Twenty list and the new P-R Top Sites list.  Please keep voting!

8/16/02.  Grade 8 volume I is now online.  Oh and please feel free to vote for me at Painful Realization's Top Site list.  Just hit the link above.  Thanks.

8/15/02.  New section:  Fun.  This is where I put stuff that isn't long enough to be an article or whatever.

8/14/02.  New journal online (Grade 6 Volume I), new article, new galleries.  Take off  your coat and stay awhile.

8/13/02.  It's been awhile since my last update but I've been working on the page quite a bit.  Added the guest book--please sign btw!  (It's the bake sale sign up thing below this frame)--and tagboard.  Removed tagboard.  Tagboard to return.  Traded in the filing cabinet image map for a cute scan of Pucca.  Click the pic to visit the official Pucca site.  What else?  Added the Rant section with 3 rants and added a private section.  Added a script that tells you how many people are currently looking at the page.  Put my ICQ icon back up but of course it doesn't work this time out either.  I'm off for a bit tho' so once I'm done tinkering then I'll have to get down to providing some content.  For now though I'm playing Jedi Outcast and Civ III so forget it.  Busy, busy.  Oh I know, the *big* news is that chessthecat.com has broken the top *50* on the Spark's Top 20!  Keep voting!  Thanks a lot!  Later.

8/08/02.  Here's a capture of my desktop.  The world's most boring desktop.  Except for the fact I renamed my recycling bin "Trash".  Subversive.  I know.   Well it's like Freeze always says "Recycling is a waste of time and money."  Actually it's true.  Many municipalities that have curbside recycling find they are unable to sell what they collect and end up dumping  it in a landfill.  But the real reason I renamed it is because I'm a closet Mac fan.

8/07/02.  If anyone knows why the image map of the filing cabinet would work in IE and not Netscape please let me know.  The really weird thing is it *was* working in Netscape and now it's not. I don't get it.  Tao pointed out that the image map can be seen in Netscape but it's very tiny and way off to the side.  Either way I'll have some kind of fix up tonight.

8/06/02.   I just wanted to thank Tao Jones again for all his help with my page.  He's fixed up several things that I had no idea how to and saved my computer from falling to its death.  Thanks again Tao!

Well the new page is finished.  I'm sure there's an odd broken link or formatting problem but all-in-all this is my new look and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it.   Now that that's finished watch for new articles and stuff soon.

8/04/02.  You know KFC's Secret Blend of 11 Herbs and Spices?  Well today I read that, in order to keep it secret, one half of the mix is manufactured in one factory and the other half is mixed in a different factory.  Then they ship both to a third factory that mixes it together.  Guys.  It's not that good.  Why all the security?  Is that really necessary.  Is salt, pepper and some breadcrumbs really worth running three factories?  It's not like I eat that stuff and marvel at how good it tastes.  It's okay.  I mostly eat there because it's cheap.  KFC, a tip:  save some bucks and just mix it all at one factory.

I rented GI Joe:  The Movie last night.  When I was a kid I loved GI Joe.  I was watching the movie and thinking, okay,  they've got these huge complexes and fleets of vehicles and all these super high tech weapons and stuff that must be funded by the government or something.  What I want to know is this:  why is it "Bring Your Own Uniform"?  Every Joe is wearing his street clothes or just some weird ass uniform he made up.  Does this make sense to you?  Let's say you were at an airport and there was a hostage taking.  K.  So we'll call up Delta Force.  Now we'll see some action.   But  wouldn't you feel a bit weirded out if like a guy in...oh I don't know...a basketball jersey or maybe his snowsuit or a vest with no shirt on showed up?  It's so Village People.   All those different "outfits".   Maybe it's just me.  I dunno.

What was the defining moment in your life?  Do you know?  I do.  It was when I was watching the Muppet show as a kid and then Kermit said his friends were coming over or something and then all the Sesame Street Muppets showed up.  It totally blew my mind.  There was the Swedish Chef baking cookies and Cookie Monster was eating them!  Bert and Ernie were there and Big Bird.  Hell, even Oscar made it down I think.  When you're young you can't comprehend stuff like that.  I got really confused.  Is this real?  Are Bert and Ernie real people?  Did they ride the subway to get to the show?  Do they have calendars and a phone?  They must.  Kermit would have had to call them and then they would mark it on their calendar.   Everyone's got a friend that has a whole other circle of friends that you hear about but you never see.  Kermit was that friend.  He reported the news on Sesame Street but was moonlighting on Broadway.  Then one day he decided to intentionally collide his worlds.  The best was when they all sang that song at the end.  It really got to me.  I started tearing up.  I bet if I saw it now I still would.

8/02/02.  "Where a calculator on the ENIAC is equipped with 18,000 vacuum tubes and weighs 30 tons, computers in the future by the year 2000, may have only 1,000 vacuum tubes and weigh only 1.5 tons"
Popular Mechanics, March 1949

8/01/02.  Basically I just want to say the United States of America is the greatest nation on earth and always will be.  Also volume 1 of sixth grade is up in Project Journal.
