Juno Beach Centre

Last year, Stars, her dad, my grandfather, and I went to England to visit relatives and to observe the 60th Anniversary of D-Day on Juno Beach.  What my grandfather didn't realize was that we purchased a memorial brick to be installed at the Juno Beach Centre.  Unfortunately, it hadn't been installed yet so he had to live with the display brick we also received.

Well the other day I had an idea:  just e-mail the Juno Beach Centre and ask someone to step outside and photograph the brick so my grandfather can finally see it.

I thought it was a long shot but they actually came through!  What can I say?  These guys are doing a top notch job!  If you're ever in Courseulles-sur-Mer be sure to drop in.

Hello/Bonjour,

My name is Frank Coruzzi.  I purchased a memorial brick for my 82 year old grandfather who fought in Normandy.  Last summer I brought my grandfather back to France for the first time in 60 years.  We attended the D-Day ceremonies at the museum.  I had planned to show him the brick I purchased but unfortunately it had not been installed yet so he never got to see it.

Is there any way someone could take a digital photograph of his brick and e-mail it to me so that I can print it out and show him?  I realize this is an unusual request but I really would appreciate your help in this matter and so would my grandfather.

Thank you for your help,

Merci.

Dear Mr. Coruzzi,

Thank you for your generous contribution to the Juno Beach Centre.  The memorial brick you purchased for your Grandfather will help the Centre to continue to present and commemorate Canadians efforts throughout the Second World war.  We are more than happy to send you a photograph of your Grandfather's brick.

I have attached two photographs.  The first is of your Grandfather's brick--I hope it is clear enough!  The second is a professional photogaph of the Centre which shows the brick kiosks in the lower righthand corner.  I think you will agree that it is a beautiful image which shows how prominently the bricks are displayed to our visitors.

Sincerely,

Adam Garskey

Dear Mr. Garskey,

I received the photographs you sent.  I can't thank you enough for your help.  I bought the display brick as well but it's a real thrill to see the actual brick on the beach.

We all had a wonderful time in Courseulles-sur-Mer for the D-Day 60th Anniversary but we especially enjoyed our time at the Juno Beach Centre.  I'll never forget how moved my grandfather was while back on the beach.

Again, thank you so much for the photographs.  The Centre is doing a wonderful job and I look forward to supporting it in the future.

Merci,

Frank Coruzzi
