Utah

My current setup. I'm still shopping for Sword.

Utah is a Pentium II with 32MB of RAM and a 6GB HD.
The one thing it didn't have is a case. (The ones I got
were huge and pretty dirty.)

I'm pretty careless about working on a computer.
I
always forget to turn off the juice. Well, I couldn't
get the NIC to work so I tried pulling it with the machine
running. Big mistake. Sparks were flying and smoke
was spewing. You can almost make out the carbon
scoring on my Leatherman. The funny thing is is
that I didn't get shocked this time. I guess stainless
steel doesn't conduct electricity? Luckily I was able to pick up
another NIC for a few bucks at a junk shop.

I got all these parts from people who didn't want them
anymore. I stripped all the good stuff out of 3
computers I received. After cobbling Utah together
I tried to turn it on but forgot to strip a switch out of
the cases. A quick trip to the garbage and I found one.

I've got a KVM switch on order to help
clean up some of this mess.

With a little imagination and moving some junk around
I found a suitable home for Utah.

It wasn't a problem at all fitting all that
junk in the drawer.

Utah in its new home with the cabling wrapped
up nice and neat. That's the power, CAT5 and
soon the KVM cables.
I've got a couple of game ports I'm going to throw into Utah and use it as a dedicated game console emulator. I'll also throw SETI@Home on it of course and get it pumping results to Chessnet.
